Ha Tinh hopes to “multi-functional” Vung Ang Economic Zone

Ha Tinh hopes to develop the Vung Ang area into a multi-industry and multi-sector economic zone, an economic and urban center in the southern part of the province, connected to the regional economic center, and suitable for regional development.

The Ha Tinh Provincial Party Committee has just issued a resolution on the development of the Vung Ang  Economic Zone from 2021 to 2025. Looking forward to 2030, the Vung Ang  Economic Zone will be built into a multi-functional economic zone.

Established in 2007, Vung Ang  Economic Zone currently has 151 investment projects, including 94 domestic investment projects with a total registered investment of VND 59,802 billion, and 57 foreign investment projects with a total investment of over 13.5 billion US dollars, creating nearly 20,000 employees.

Ha Tinh determined that the construction of the Vung Ang  Economic Zone is a key task for social and economic development, in line with the provincial 2021-2030 plan and 2050 vision. The established goal is to build Vung Ang  Economic Zone with metallurgical industry, energy, processing, and manufacturing as the pillars; and seaport services, trade and service industry development are solid foundations.

Specifically, during 2021-2025: Attract newly registered investment capital of US$3.5 billion to US$5.5 billion (60-70% of realized capital). The growth rate of industrial and service output value is 15%-20%/year. The total budgeted revenue for the entire period ranges from VND 55,000 to 6,000 billion. The cargo passing through the port exceeds 40 million tons/year. The total value of exports of goods throughout the period reached 750-850 million US dollars. Create jobs for more than 25,000 employees.

Phase 2026-2030: Attract newly registered investment of US$4 billion to US$7 billion (60%-70% of realized capital). The growth rate of industrial and service output value is 15%-20%/year. The total budgeted revenue for the entire period will reach VND 100,000 to 120,000. The cargo passing through the port exceeds 60 million tons/year. Total exports of goods over the entire period increased from $12 billion to $14 billion. Create jobs for more than 30,000 employees.
